We hope this web-site will give you hope. I know a full recovery is not possible every time, but think it is worth trying to help kids feel better. One of our kids is fully recovered, and the younger two are well on their way. In July 2007 Jada and Kaden were hardly even saying words, they would cry a lot and follow me around the house. Jada would not sleep at night, and they all had diarrhea and bloated bellies. Today it is July 1 2008 life is a lot easier for us as a family now. We have a ways to go yet , but every week our kids do more and say more. Two weeks ago we took them out to dinner. It went very well. That would of been an impossible task last July 2007. This time it was not a task at all. We all really enjoyed ourselves. It was a hard decision to put Jada's picture on this web-site But picture is worth a thousand words. It is hard to describe the vacant look a child with autism can have. I was calling her name in this picture and she was not responding. When I call the kids now they all respond. We also will be sharing our son Cole's story as he narrated it for me to write down. He is proud of himself and has come along way.
	Do you recognize this look ? This picture is of our beautiful daughter Jada, April 2007. Jada and her brother were diagnosed with autism July 20 2007. We were devastated, we had always suspected something, as we had taken the kids to a pediatrician with our concerns. We were assured our kids were fine. Some of the symptoms we saw in all our kids tip toes walking less eye contact than other children hand flapping loss of language skills ( more so after the vaccines) not point to objects or looking at objects I was pointing to tantrums did not like change did not speak much only words no phrases loved to sit and spin tires on toy cars Jada did not like to wear clothes did not respond to their name
As soon as the kids were diagnosed with autism we told anyone that would listen that our kids had autism. We were hoping that someone would know of some way of helping our kids. In the mean time we had taken them off dairy, they were already off gluten. Our son Kaden stopping banging his head shortly after being taken off dairy. Very soon after that we found out about a book Breaking The Vicious Cycle: Intestinal Health Through Diet by Elaine Gottschall. I read the book and learned lots about the SCD ( Specific Carbohydrate Diet ) and also learned lots on this web-site. www.pecanbread.com We started all 3 kids on the SCD right away. On the 3rd day Jada walked up to me looked me in the eyes, and said "I am so happy". I knew right then we were on the right diet for our kids. Jada never said phases to us. So this was a real miracle in our eyes. Our 3 year old son also started to make statements like "I eat or I drink. The previous week the kids were just screaming to communicate. We also saw a marked improvement in our 6 year old son. He had not been diagnosed, but he had a really hard year in kindergarten. August 2007 We started the kids on Brainchild Spectrum support minerals and vitamins. They are great family run company. They really understand how important supplementation is for our kids. I highly recommend them.
	August 28 2007 I contacted Dr Anita Bratt ND who lives in Vancouver, she really helped us. She had us do a Organic acid profile and hair mineral analysis on the kids. When the results came back it showed high yeast, viruses, aluminum and a lot of low levels too. I highly recommend Dr Bratt ND. She is a trained DAN (Defeat Autism Now). We put the kids on the supplement as she suggested and they steadily improved. This picture was taken in October 2007 Jada has had a huge improvement in her eye contact and language skills. In October 2007 I went to a Defeat Autism Now conference I really enjoyed it, I did not feel so alone, 1 in 150 children are diagnosed with autism. We had already implemented all the diet suggestions they had but it was still very interesting. I did learn that cordless phones and microwaves should be avoided. I found it to be very help full.
I got home and didn't think about it again until I was talking to Kevin Byrne at Dirty Electricity he told me how bad the cordless phones and microwaves were for our family so that day we unplugged them both, so now we use corded phones. The kids seemed to be calmer Jada stopped flapping her hands at her ears. January 14 2008 we got Stetzerizer filters, they plug in and filter out dirty electricity. We bought them from Kevin Byrne @ Dirty Electricity . We also bought a Graham-Stetzer microsurge meter we tested our whole home the levels were around 200 to 1900 a safe level is below 25. We started unplugging counter top appliances that we were not using. We plugged in the filters, we brought the level down to 18 and lower. Kaden started using a few more words, Jada started to read easy books, Jada was even more interactive with us and more talkative, and the kids were sleeping a bit better.
In February 2008 we were extremely lucky to get a Speech-Language Pathologist. I highly recommend bringing in a speech therapist, our kids have really benefited from it. At first the kids were frustrated with the fun games the speech therapist would play with them. The kids had to speak in order to go on with games, everyday she came they got more willing to speak and request items. Now our kids look forward to everyday our speech therapist comes to our home. Jada is more ready for school activities and has more self esteem. Jada has improved in her ability to understand and express thoughts, ideas and feelings. Speech therapy had really helped our 4 year old too. Kaden was a bit stubborn about the whole thing in the beginning but now he is willing to request toys and will even talk without being prompted to. Today July 5 2008 Kaden even asked for our speech therapist, he really likes her and so does Jada.
January 2008 when I was in Victoria getting my Bengals cats tested at the vets office with Dr Robert Mason. He suggested that I try getting the kids off the coil mattresses, so I did. I went right out and bought foam mattresses for them. Rob also mentioned to me about magnetic mattress pads, magnetic quilts and pillow. Rob sent me a link to purchase the sleep systems for our kids. March 5 2008 the pillows and quilts came I put them on their beds. The kids slept a extra hour the next morning. March 6 the magnetic pads came I put them on the kids beds. I was pretty excited about how these sleep systems would effect our kids. I did not tell my husband. I was hoping that he would notice any positive changes in the kids and tell me. I went off to a cat show for the weekend. On the weekend Ken phoned me to tell me that the kids were talking more and calmer they were also sleeping longer. When I got home I could see Jada seemed more put together.

Jada was saying thank you Mom to me for the things I was doing for her, that was really different for her. One thing that happened that week was we were in the health food store, Jada wanted some bison sausage, one of her favorite treats. They were out, I told her, she looked at me and said apple. I was amazed. The usual thing for Jada would be say sausage over and over again screaming. This was a huge improvement. Kaden was having less tantrums, that was just great, it made our home much calmer. He also was requesting things he wanted. The kids were on a real plateau before January 2008 the sleep system really got them going again. April 20 2008 we got magnetic insoles After a few days of wearing the magnetic insoles Kaden had a few more sentences ( I want that toy ) ( I am hungry) April 30 Kaden walked up to me and said ( H O T ) and put his hand over my hot cup. He actually spelled the word hot. I was amazed. May 4 2008 First I should tell you Jada does not wear clothes at home. I have tried to keep them on her but I gave up as soon as I would leave the room Jada would take her clothes off down to her underwear. Even in the cold snow Jada would not wear a coat or even clothes outside. I would really have to watch her to make sure she stayed inside. She must have had real sensory issues to dislike clothes that much. So on May 4 Jada put a shirt on all by herself. She kept it on all day. The next day I put a shirt on her, then she looked at me and said pants. I was amazed, Jada kept the clothes on all day. I could not remember the last time she wore cloths all day. Its been over two months and she is still wearing clothes. Its truly amazing its so fun to see our little beautiful daughter walking around in girly clothes.
	Here is Jada now, she is looking healthier than ever. Using magnetic therapy was the best thing we ever did for our kids, they all have had amazing results from the magnetic sleep system and magnetic insoles. The kids also sleep way better now, since they have been sleeping on magnetic sleep system. Before they would travel all over the bed now they just sleep in one position. The dark circles have disappeared under their eyes. They are less whiney and have way more eye contact. We are using many therapies on our children Gluten free, casein free, SCD, naturopathic DAN doctor, dirty electricity filters, no cordless phones, no microwave, Speech-Language Pathologist, magnetic sleep systems, and magnetic insoles. All of these therapies in our opinion have complimented each other. We hope that in reading what we have done for our kids it will give you hope. We really felt hopeless in the beginning of our autism journey. Our kids are doing and saying more every week. They have gone from being non verbal last July 2007, to now reading and using hundreds of words and phrases.
